Questions from a newcomer to the scene
Questions from a newcomer to the scene –

Hey all, I just acquired a jailbroken PS3, and although I have lurked this forum quite a bit, I still have some questions regarding some details.
First of all, my system is a 3.55 with Rogero Manager 3.2. My questions are:
1. Is there any important update I should look for?
2. Can I run games from an USB external HD?
3. What about pen drives? Can I use any pen drive size or is there a capacity limit (as firmwares from other devices usually have)?
4. I am aware I can not connect to the PSN, or I'll risk banning, but is there any risk of a silent update? Is that ban immediate and certain, or would I just be banned "eventually"?
5. If I just configure a connection so I could use the web browser, would I still risk banning and/or updating?
Thanks for any assistance, this forum is great and very informative!

I'll answer in order.
- Nope
- Yes, a long as it (usually) has files under 4gb, unless you do that external>internal thing with multiMAN
- Yes, doesn't matter the size off the drive. The get rea just like external HDs
- Sony does not do silen updates
- Just turn auto-sign off so it won't try to log you in. Even still, you can't get banned since you can't get online because you're on 3.55.
Hoped I helped.

Thanks for the quick reply, really great.
Just two follow-up questions:
I don't mind if I just get a bunch of links, but how exactly do I proceed from a backed-up iso in my comp to a working game in Rogero Manager?
And finally, when you say I can't get online, you mean on the PSN? Or am I unable to connect to the web in anyway, such as the system browser?
Also, I didn't get any reply on whether a ban on PSN would come right away, or is connecting to the PSN only "risky"?

What do you mean about a backed-up iso on your comp because the back up manager will be able to rip the iso from your disk? To answer your second question, you can use the ps3 browser but psn is not available for current cfw. I don't think you have to worry about a ban yet since psn is down but who knows when it comes back supposedly revamped.

Thanks again for the assistance.
To clarify:
Lets say I have my original game disc. I rip it to my computer.
From that point on, I'm stuck. How do I get my file to the internal HDD, and from there to the Rogero Manager list so I can run it?
And for my last question (I swear, hahaha):
The guy who sold me the PS3 did not install any of the firmware stuff like the Video Editor or the Photo Album maker. How do I download and install this stuff (and other freebies like demos or game patches) without updating my firmware? Is it possible?
Thanks again for any reply, I honestly never been to such a helpful forum. You guys rock.

To get the iso from your comp to the ps3, you have to set up an FTP which is available in some back up managers or you can install a stand alone package such as Open FTP, PS3 FTP, etc. You can use the search tool to find info about the FTP process and setup. I don't know about the video and pictures part but the game updates aren't usually tied to PSN. That means after you get the game running in the back up manager, the game will ask you to download the updates and will install just like on OFW. I might be wrong but for demos, they are tied to PSN so until someone figures out a way to access they're not available. Hope this answers you question!

I'll wait for answers regarding the firmware programs.

If the icon is already on the XMB and it's asking you to download it, just let it download and install. You don't need to update your firmware. But there's a link on this forum, don't have it with me, that contains pkg files of those programs, like Picture Gallery, Qriocity, and Netflix - stuff like that.
