A question about the PS3 Firmware

I don't have a PS3 yet and I am worried about once I have the money to finally get one it will be pre installed with firmware 3.42+.

If this is the case, is it possible to put an older firmware back on the ps3? (3.41)(I am guessing the answer to this is no. )

I have the 3.41 firmware on my PC and am hoping to get a PS3 with an older firmware then 3.41 or even with 3.41... but I can't help but think this will not be possible for me at all >_<.

You can't downgrade, and so far an exploit for 3.42 has not been found. Can you put a ps3 on lay-by/lay away?

I really wish I could.. but I only have spare money once every 3 months... and it's only $60

I'm also looking for a spare PS3 to keep offline. I went to 4 different local stores yesterday. Not a single one available! The 250GB & 160GB model were all gone.

Gamestop had a display box introducing the upcoming 320GB console. I have threads setup on several forums looking for a spare PS3. I might be looking for a good while!

I actually like FLEABAY! I've been selling and buying there for quite a while. Not one single bad experience for me yet. I know it doesn't work that way for some though. I will keep FLEABAY open as a possibility in buying one. The bad thing is about 2 weeks ago a guy had one on sale locally and I didn't need one because I didn't think about the PS3 being hacked.

He had a sweet deal too. 120GB Slim with 3 games and 2 controllers for $225 and less than 4 months old. I remember looking at it from a local online ad but I wasn't even considering one then. I feel bad about it now though!
