Hi, I was just wondering. I always play my backups with an original disc in the drive. I was wondering if that disc is always spinning while I am playing, or just spin once at the beginning than stop. I prefer not to put wear and tear on the drive since i know they go bad. If so I will start playing backups discless if the drive is constantly running.

    thanks

It spins once at the beginning to grab the inner security sector and once the game is loaded, it stops.

to use jb you need to press power, eject anyway so the disk comes out...why would you then intentionally reinsert the disk if its not needed?

even if there's no constant seek, there's definitely motor usage at the beginning...which translates to some wear+tear

Thanks guys for the answer and suggestion.

I might do discless because as you said it does still put wear on the drive.
