I modded my PS3 a couple nights ago from the 3.55 OFW. The mod I used was kmeau 3.55 CFW and installed the Multiman and Rogero backup managers for playing my backup games. This system has only been modded fromt he 3.55 OFW and was never modded before this.

I have just gotten a new 500GB HDD for my PS3, and I have a question about doing the upgrade. When the HDD restores, can i just put the 3.55 CFW on my flash drive, or do I need to actually use the 3.55 OFW and then install the CFW after the OFW is installed? I am hoping that I can just use the 3.55 CFW for the formatting of the HDD.

I appreciate any help with this question.

I'm in the same situation, should I use the OFW 3.55 or Kmeau's CFW 3.55?

I had the same thread as you have now a few weeks ago.
After a week of struggling I found the perfect solution.

Here is how I upgraded my HDD without losing my trophies. (PS3 PHAT 80GB 16MB NAND)

    1. FTP (blackbox or whatever) to hdd0\home\(userid) and copy the tropy dir to your computer.
    2. OFW 3.55 (recovery menu)
    3. Backup (backup utility)
    4. Replace HDD
    5. Install 3.55 OFW
    6. Restore backup (backup utility)
    7. Install CFW 3.55 Kmeaw (XMB)
    8. FTP to hdd0\home\(userid) and copy back the tropy dir.
    9. Go to recovery menu and choose Rebuild Database
    10. After rebuild go to XMB and see all your trophies restored.

Have fun with your new HHD!!!

    PS3 80GB PHAT (640GB Int.) 3.55 kmeaw.
    PS3 320GB Slim 3.60 OFW.

I assume you could use a program such as norton ghost or acronis imaging and just do a proportional copy of the image of your hard drive. Not 100% sure that it would work, but it seems to be the easiest and fastest way if it did. Can anyone confirm if this would work? Guess it would mostly depend on what FS PS uses.

The HDD is encrypted and can only be read on the console that it is married to.
