A buddy of mine's fat PS3 recently died from the YLOD. He had KMEAW installed, and wants to get a new slim and install it on that too. Do they still sell PS3s that are 3.55 and under? Is there any way to check by the serial number on the box?

look for either a killzone 3 bundle or a move bundle going to be your best bet all those have been confirmed to have 3.50 firmware or below on them might get lucky and get a 160 gig with 3.55 or lower
no console has everbeen reported to b e more than 3.55
I was just going to echo what aneesh said that I haven't heard of any being released with higher than 3.55. I could be wrong but I don't think so

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like the Killzone bundle is the way to go.
i gota 160gb slim from best buy not the kilzone pack and it has 3.50 on it.
He ended up buying the Killzone 3 bundle, and I can also confirm that it was 3.50. We installed 3.55 KMEAW no problem.
No new PS3's will be 3.55 they will always be a round number EG 3.50, 3.40 so the next rls will be 3.60. Which is obviously going to be a while till it hits any shops.
I can confirm that is not true. Just bought a new PS3 Slim from bestbuy, non-bundle, 160gb on 3-19 and it came stock with 3.55 FW.Quote:
