PSN access fail with 3.55 spoof and x3max dongle
PSN access fail with 3.55 spoof and x3max dongle –

First off, I want to say thanks to all the people who spend countless hours educating us noobs, and extra thanks for the Blu-Ray fail list compliation/spreadsheet - you all took the last bit of fear out of me. I tried to use the search function, but most of the time the results were nil, or did not quite apply to my current situation, so here goes...
I am trying to sign in to my PSN account using my x3max dongle w/generic.bin 1.1 and the psgroove_teensy_at90usb1286_16mhz_firmware3.41.hex . The PS3 first tells me I need an update. When I humor it and say ok, it tells me it is already running the latest update.
The unit is a retail PS3 fat that was previously upgraded to 3.5 via PSN. I performed a standard HDD swap to a 650 GB drive, using the factory installed backup utility and data transfer utility.
When I got into the scene, x3max had just hinted at a 3.5 solution, and the downgrade craze had just started to take off. Knowing little more than what I read here & a few other sites, and the lies I saw on failtube, I ordered the x3max.
The downgrade procedure failed upon two attempts with two different downloads of the modified PUP in the DGF package that floats around the web - I get most of my stuff for PS3 from a reputable site that is mentioned throughout many threads.
The unit was successfully downgraded after attempting it with a factory version of 3.41. I would hate to try to upgrade and downgrade again, because the data transfer is a tedious process, as most of you all know. I am not against it, though, if that is my only option. *I almost 100% certain I was running PSN on the new HDD before the downgrade.
I have succesfully been able to run any piece of homebrew I throw at the PS3 and load games just fine from the internal HDD.
What do I need to do to get my PSN account working again? Sorry to ramble, but I hate the generic posts that end in something like "I changed the date, and it magically worked" or "I did a full format this time".
recap - PS3 Fat, 650GB HDD, 3.41 retail from 3.50 retail via x3max w/generic 1.1 bin, jailbreak via teensy++ 2.0
(I also have a CECHE01 3.41 system that I performed a drive rebuild and the YLOD fix on, that has NOT been modified, if I need a mule of some sort)

At this time, there currently is no way to access PSN on a jailbroken PS3

Sorry to hear that you got swindled by x3max. And, what Nocturne said.

Bummer. I was hoping there was some sort of dns workaround out there. I guess I will wait for the 3.55 signed homebrew. No online play sucks. Looks like I am going to have to break out the other PS3 if I want to sign into my account.
The dongle isn't the worst 30 bucks I have spent. It is certainly better than spending the 115 for the other guy's downgrader.
Was there any benefit to doungrading to the modified PUP? I hate to think I lost functionality, but after watching failoverflow's presentation, it seems like we will be beating up on Our PS3s like we do our Wiis.
