In my opinion i think the only updating that this jailbreak will get will be the backup manager, because the backup manager is homebrew and the homebrew can tell the usb/system what to do and what not to do. For example look at the PSP and homebrew, the homebrew can tell the psp "make a brighter setting for the screen, run faster cpu run game faster" maybe the backup manager will tell do this protocol here and there to bypass "newer firmwares" Just my two cents

The backup manager does exactly what it says on the tin, it manages and launches backups...nothing more.

I think what you mean is that homebrew will provide the avenues to allow the dongle to run on higher firmwares.

As it's been mentioned before, well have to wait until people have it in their possession in order to make educated guesses about these things.

If they update which was just announced more can be done, yes you are correct homebrew can pave the way to custom firmwares and such and making the ps3 do things it normally cannot. It's psJailbreaks 's app/homebrew they can add/change/delete anything who know's what they are going to do.

Obviously alot of people are misunderstanding what the USB jig IS and what it CAN do. Check the PSJAILBREAK website. The Backup manager is a download on the site, NOT a built in function. That's because the USB jig is JUST for allowing you to run unsigned code. There will be better and easier to use Backup managers springing up left and right as soon as these things ship, and people scrambling to develop fun things for people to do with it.
