Agreed.
PS2 isn't just faster than PS1, it also has more processors that interact in more complex ways. Also, PS2PSXe has taken years of development and a lot of knowledge, and it is still incomplete. It's certainly not something whose feasibility could be taken for granted beforehand. I'm not one to say that things are impossible unless there's some really solid evidence, just that you shouldn't hold your breath for things that are clearly not easy to do.
I won't hold my breath at all for it, for two reasons:
1. I do own multiple PS2s, so I don't need BC.
2. I guess, there will be an Emu at one day, but it will last years of course and I think if a slow alpha/beta comes out, Sony finally releases an official PS2-Support.
