I am curious, did they just fall off the face of the planet, or did some where pick them up and run with it?
I have access to an unused one, but not seeing any support for it since 2010. Any one know?
Oh, and on a side note, because there is WAY too much awesome information for me to go through on here to see if this has been attempted. Has any one just like grabbed the new pup, dissected and modded the pup it's self to make a hole in it? And then update the system with it? It almost sounds plausible to do. Just a little reverse engineering right? I mean I am sure some one has tried, but there has to be a way to inject a command in there some how. Just like giving it a virus kind of thing. Cause I am sure some of the old commands are still in there some where, just laying dormant and not doing any thing. Sorry just a question on my part. I play with computer hardware, not software. So just bear with me as I get better understandings.
Aloha for now.
Dongle support, especially the big names (since you can't put your own code in) is completely dead. There is no need for them. With the CFWs, they are obsolete. The only thing a dongle can be used for now (the programmable ones) is a Factory Service Mode "jig". They actually hacked 3.41 OFW with a complicated hack with inserting and removing different USB devices at bootup. Was an ingenious hack, but as I said with a real CFW available, it's obsolete, and support for over 3.41 was never done. Not to mention, the bug was fixed in 3.55 and above.

*Caveat Emptor: You must have a PS3 that can be downgraded to CFW3.55 or at lest a PS3 with the old Metldr, and Lvl0 Keys on it, In which case you can then install CFW from 3.56 though till 4.30 using the Three Musketeers Patch. In any case you'd still need to get a hold of an E3 NOR Flasher to patch your NOR ROM to either be downgraded in the "normal way" or to patch the Three Musketeers to your ROM in order to update to CFW. The E3 by itself does NOT DO JACK! Its just a tool to "Patch" your PS3 so that it can be hacked!
Perhaps its just me, but I find the exact Info on this point to be most unclear on that point! So let me say it again....
THE E3 NOR FLASHER DOES NOT DOWNGRADE YOUR PS3!! It only patches the Firmware so that you CAN THEN DOWNGRADE IT!
I ended up reflashing my PS3 about Three times over before this little nugget finally sank in!
I haven't seen or used a flasher, and I did not know this. I assumed it wrote the "3.55" image into the flash. Interesting to know. It probably does this to keep certain information intact about your BD-ROM, PSID, etc. Just guessing....
