I did know it was only upto 3.41 at the moment and I did try the search but it comes up with 100's of threads but none of the titles look like they have the information that i'm looking for.

I assume it's something to do with the boot method that has been changed by Sony to stop the jailbreaks from working?

The exploit code that is out there is written for 3.41. We assume the exploit exists in previous firmwares but the specific code needs to be written to work for those previous exploits.
