PS3Break v.1.1 Upgrade?
PS3Break v.1.1 Upgrade? –
Well, it's my first post in this forum and the ps3 homebrew/hack scene as well.
I'm from the "old" days, when the first psp hacks and save game exploits (GTA ;-)) were detected. And I know how the PSP Scene EXPLODED after that, so I'm hoping the same is going to happen for the PS3. Had a lot of fun writing homebrew for the PSP. Never gamed on it, just hacks
My Question: I got one of those ***** PS3Breaks (Had to send it 3 times back to the reseller, until I got a functioning one....). I know the stick is crap, but it does the job for now.
But can I upgrade code on it, without waiting for the "experts" of PS3Break? I got a v1.1, which should house an AMTEL Board, right? Can I somehow put the the newly compiled package on that thingy?
Thanks for your advice!
It houses PIC (I opened it yesterday because it suddenly stopped functioning) which however doesn't necessarily mean it's not upgradable. Check their site for the needed software and instructions.

BTW, should a functioning PS3Break be recognized by PC when it's connected or not?
I just can't quite remember how it was when I connected it to my PC to check before connecting to PS3, just after purchase. Should there be a notification in the task bar that "unknown device" is detected?
Not sure. Never plugged a working one into my PC. I guess it should detect the stick as a new/undefined device as soon as you push the Upgrade Button - In addition there should be the LED to let you know it's working. That's what I remember from the manual.
Well, that's a bummer if it houses a PIC!
I thought the v1.0 houses a PIC and the v1.1 got something a little better suited for upgrades. Oh well, not a surprise after my experiences with their dongles...
I bought a v1.0 psbreak and got screwed over with not being able to upgrade. Managed to get hold of a v1.1 thou and thought what the hell. Updating via pc is a doddle. Plug in, pc will moither about it, Then press upgrade button on the usb stick. Start up the HIDBootLoader.exe that i downloaded from their site. It says device connected. Dowload the latest burner file (hex file) for the v1.1 stick. Click on open hex and chose the latest hex file which you dled from the site. Then click on "program/verify" button. Wait til it says verify started and the stick is constantly flashing then take it out....done. Their site isnt bad these days. The new hex code 1.4b which allows game updates was out the same day as the psgroove payload was released so im keeping faith with them at the mo.
Yeah, if you got a functioning one, you can upgrade using their hex files np.
My problem is, that I don't want to be dependent on their releases... Who knows how long they keep it up with releasing files? I mean, it's a Hong-Kong based clone manufacturer... :-/

updating the ps3 break
updating the ps3 break –
to update your ps3 break (and check its updateable)
you need to download the ps3 break burner tool from thier website,
(under downloads on the left, get the one for your model of ps3break i.e 1.0,1.1 or in the future 1.2.
install the two programs that come in the package:
dotnetfx and vcredist, once installed restart your pc insert you ps3break into a usb port and click on ps3break V*.*.exe.
then hit you upgrade button (even if the ps3 break has not been recognised by the pc!!!!)
if your ps3 break is updateable the program will report device connected,
then click open hex file, browse for you hex and then hit program/verify.
hope this helps!!
