PS3_UPDATE folder –
Can I delete the PS3_Update folder on each game?
It works on the PSP but I'm not sure if it works under the current Backup loader.
I would be interested to see if it works though.
I have deleted all of mine, with no problems. If your unsure back it up first then load game
Yeah just delete it and it will work fine
You can also delete all if the language files that you don't want as well to make the game smaller
Will deleting the Update folder also help getting rid of the Version 1.1 update available nusiance? Thanks!
Yep, update requests are gone when you delete that folder.
If you accidently start to install the update, quit the game ASAP and then go to the folder created for the game (NOT the one under LAUN12345 but where all other game folders are) and delete it.
Some games WON'T work with installed updates. (ie Red Dead Redemption)
This has nothing to do with the game and its just there. (Waste of space.)
Feel free to delete the update folder as it does not contain any thing that will prevent you from playing the game.
This is often done for people who have PSP's and small memory sticks like a 1GB. Take for example God of War: Chains of Olympus, say its 1GB.
You will look in the game for unnecessary/not needed data (e.g. Update folder)
So that's normally ripped(deleted), another thing that is ripped is FMC/CG(Game Cut scenes, video files.) these are usually deleted. A dummy file is replaced with a smaller file size with the same name as its original. So now the game has been cut from a 1GB file size to a say 700MB.
Again this is just an example for explaining purposes.
This is all done with the idea to keep it small as possible and not take up too much space. Who knows if it will be the same for some PS3 games as there are not a lot of FMV/CGi Movies, most of that is now done in game.
