PS3 wont recognize my external drive
PS3 wont recognize my external drive –

hello!
i have 2 external drives.. one is powered over the USB and one has an external power source.. both are fat32 and both have only 1 partition yet ps3 wont recognize them at all..
on the PC they work without problems .. USB sticks are recognized on the PS3..
any ideas ?

If they are fat32 they should be recognised. How did you format them to fat32 this could answer your problems.
Also assume they are showing on the pc when plugged in?

http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=197 try this, it is a usb formatting tool that should work on your hard drive also. Having the same problem and i am backing up my information on my external and using this tool. Should work.

Just finished formatting my drive and now it works with the PS3. So you should have no problem with this tool. It does not give you the option to portion some of the hard drive it seems. You have to format the whole hard drive. Hope this helps you though.
