I noticed some boxes say instant streaming Netflix.. I was wondering if those models had newer firmware since you have to have 3.50 to instant stream without disc.
120GB and 250GB models are the older now retired models...absolutely WILL be under 3.41. 160GB and 320GB models are newer so more of a chance of above 3.41....BUT if you find a store with older stock of 160GB or 320GB you are more then likely good to go.
They might have newer firmware, but they might not. My 160gb slim was manufactured in August 2010 and had the netflix logo, but came with firmware 3.30. So, the bottom line is it might have newer firmware, but not guaranteed that it will. The only way to be sure is to ask the store if the ps3 has been there at the store longer than one month, then you're safe. The other option is to find a 120gb or 250gb slim, those are guaranteed not to have newer firmware.
Just purchased a slim 160 today. It has the netflix logo on it and it has fw 3.40.
I purchased mine 160GB with Netflix logo from Target last month with 3.4.
I am probably going to sell it though. I need the money for a new laptop -_-
I just purchase yet another 160gb slim and it still has 3.40 on it.
Robo, 120gb units are older than 160gb units so yes having 3.30 firmware on it is not unheard of. :-/
Is there anyway this can be confirmed 100%.
Like on the psp were you cold check if it was hackable or not?
I wonder if older ps3's have something diff... than new ones.
