PS3 Slim 320GB, ofw 3.50; where to start?

I wasn't disrespectful to the site. I know what search button is and do know how to use it. If you look I'm member since 2009 and I have only opened few threads. I always try to search the information myself rather than open new thread. So normally I do my own research before getting into any hacking.

Afaik it was highly recommended to install 3.55 (http://psx-scene.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=17) before CFW

Well here's the link to the US OFW http://ps3.dashhacks.com/system/file..._FW_UPDATE.RAR, cant find UK 3.55 OFW. Read like 10 sites and some say there's a difference and some say US FW works on UK ps3's but you can only play US region dvd's, but then I also know that ps3's will play any region so whatever. Also, since any site I go to that has archived sony OFW doesnt mention whether its US, UK, JPN, etc I dont think it matters.

If anyone else has more insight on FW regions and if it matters please tell me, because I just use FW on the net that didnt specify country and it's always worked for my US ps3.

PS Make a PS3 folder and inside of the PS3 folder make a UPDATE folder on the USB stick. In the UPDATE folder put the PS3UPDAT.PUP file you just downloaded. you dont have to install this in the recovery menu just put USB stick in ps3 start up the ps3 scroll left to settings then under settings pick System update install via usb.

na man there aren't regions at FWs lower than 3.60 - idk if there is a difference between the 3.6+ regions though

Actually I dont even know if that link i posted above is US firmware it doesnt specify like I mentioned in the same post above. It worked for my ps3. So yeah I've never heard of different OFW regions before, so I think that link i gave you will do just fine.

We already have a OFW in our download section, so he doesn't need to signup at dashhacks first

as long as the md5 is ca595ad9f3af8f1491d9c9b6921a8c61 everything is ok

No, you have to install 3.55 OFW if you want to install geohot's jailbreak (because it's a patch). Nowadays we install full firmwares so this isn't needed. But since geohot was like "you MUST install 3.55 OFW first", people assume it's needed when installing a full firmware aswell.
(That said, I'm probably the only one who'll tell you this, but it's true xD)
