PS3 region change - Is it really working?
PS3 region change - Is it really working? –
I'm in Europe and have a launch version JAP PS3.
With the recent news about CEX2DEX and region change, I decided to experiment this weekend.
Dumped the eid key with eEID_RKDumper, dumped the nand from multiman, changed the target from 83 to 85 with c2d and flashed it with multman (correctly as it recognized i was changing the targetID). Everything went smoothly (props to the devs on the great tools), but i still wasn't able to run any pal region media (PS1, PS2, bluray and dvds).
I decided to try and install a fresh firmware. I installed from recovery the OFW 3.55 and with no difference. I then installed kmeaw and changed the registry to reflect my region change, but alas... no change.
I then tried a full DEX transformation. Flashed the patched EID0NANDBIN and then rogero's 3.55 downgrade MFW. The flash went smoothly and i now have a DEX ps3. AFAIK dex PS3s should be able to play content from any region, changing only the relative option in the debug menu. Still, i can't, for the love of god, get past the restrictions.
Am I missing something? Did somebody actually try to change region on a fat PS3? What were your results?
