With ps3 ofw 3.61 in place, what would be the better choice in cfw for 3.41 or 3.55

hi everyone, im not gonna lie. im a noob/newb but ive been reading like hell in all honesty. its similar to the other post actually.....

i just bought an 80gb fat CHECHL01, which is believe is the last of the fat ("safe") models aside from the uncharted bundled 160 gb ps3, so i can either install cfw 3.41 or 3.55...

to start, with 3.61 out and new games requiring 3.60+ fw AND with rebug's release, please assist me in jailbreaking in the "best" way.

should i:
A) upgrade to ofw 3.41 and install rebug 3.41.2
b) upgrade to ofw 3.55 and install rebug 3.55.1
c) upgrade to ofw 3.41 and install CFW X (recommendations?)
d) upgrade to ofw 3.55 and install CFW X (recommendations?)

ive read that rebug is the best cfw out, and that 3.41.2 and 3.55.1 are virtually the same (no lv2(?) loading, no dongle, same debug avaialbity options), but are there better CFW's than rebug, because ive seen hermes is the most popular with 3.41 and kmeaw is most popular with 3.55, at least until rebug appeared.

now im not a dev obviously, i guess im what i think is called an end user. im really just using the ps3 to play backups, save games, movies, etc.... im not a hacker and i dont plan on messing with stuff like keys, servers, or anything else that might brick a system or screw up the psn.

so with all that in mind, what would you do with your 80gb CHECHL01 as far as jailbreaking at the current moment? please keep in mind, i just want it to play movies and games/backups, including newer games like brink, homefront, crysis 2, etc....(and no online because of 3.61 isnt an issue, i dont mind playin offline)

PS does rebug 3.41.2 operate and do everything the same way as 3.55.1

I personally would upgrade to 3.55 OFW and install 3.55 kmeaw. If you want "larger" discless support, then 3.41 Hermes with Hmanager

hermes is very stable but theres a few newer games that youll have to patch vs kmeaws. i dont know, it doesnt matter anymore really, 3.60,3.61..... and on and on and on. we need lv0 and a dev who doesnt mind releasing anon. in essence it doesnt mstter which cfw u use now. ive had success on hermese tho. just my opinion and experience

I personally would say Kmeaw 3.55 w/ multiMAN 2.00.01, it has great compatibility with most backups, 3.41 CFW is more for third party USB support (which was reduced in 3.50) 3.41 I believe doesn't have 3D support either

like ive read so many posts/reads about rebug being such a big deal and that its like really stable and so on, but people here and elswhere keep suggesting kmeaw, so im just curious as to why? (is it cuz im a noob lol?) and is it as easy to update/install w/pkgs as it is in rebug?

I've been on both, I do like the options in REBUG but most are not needed for the end user, Kmeaw still has better support when it comes to backups, The REBUG Team is looking into their black screen game problem so until they know what is the cause I'm on Kmeaw

Well, in regards to kmeaw vs rebug.. I would choose rebug.

They both play backups movies etc fine, rebug has more features. Most people switched over to rebug mainly to have extra features such has the package manager, and temporarily play psn using the dev network. There was also a method which involved downloading for free of the ps store. There are a ton of other features check out their site for more info.

Bassically tho, if you want a easy fast installation and get straight to playing games use kmeaw.

If you have time, and dont mind a lil complications i strongly reccomend getting rebug because it has all the features of kmeaw plus some more. Also if you plan on playing psn while on cfw rebug might be able to do that like before with some updates.

ok so rebug is more advanced, but a little "buggy" lol

what sounds appealing to me is ease of updating via the package/pkg manager, and you mention the possibility of going online eventually.....

can i switch between cfws? like would the process be to simply overwrite the ps3pupdat OR would i have to reinstall/reupdate OFW 3.55 and THEN install the other cfw?

ps3mfw should be the only choice TBH. rebug is cool, but not needed really.

idk what ps3mfw....i googled it and it seems its like custom made home made fw, like u put in the OFW 3.55 in the program and then it outputs a CFW? i wouldnt even know how to do that/where to start....

so is it rebug 3.55.1 for the win?
