ps3+no logic drive = No hope

quick question GUYS i have a 3.41 phat and when i recieved it it was missing the bd drive and logic board is it possible with jb and geohot new findings that i can use any logic board or if not whats the most logical step to making the system fuction?

I'm confident that a CFW will be developed which bypasses the logic drive requirement to launch homebrew.

Fingers crossed, would help many a PS3 owner.. I had to dig through someones bins for a logic board, then solder on the ribbon cable to the points behind the broken socket on the logic board. I don't fancy doing it again!

What exactly is the criteria for not being able to launch stuff? Because I've read of people with non-working drives who can launch stuff (and so play games discless) and others who can't?

Dead logic board = not being able to load anything
Dead laser/motor but logic board is hooked up and working = PS3 to load whatever.

It's much like the xbox360. If you hook up a DVD-rom that is from someone else's 360, the console will fail to boot. If the laser/motor is dead, console boots just fine.

Oh ok. So I need not worry if my Blu-Ray drive ever craps out (doubt it will since it's a Slim).
