Like the title sez, I have a ps3 on 2.53 firmware, I don't have the DVD drive or DVD board from it.
Is there anything I can do to upgrade the ps3 to 3.55?
I've never looked into doing the remarry thing but would I be able to?

To remarry, does my firmware have to be on 3.15, 3.5 or 3.55?
Because my firmware is 2.53.
Or can i just use the one closest 3.15?
And if i just want to upgrade to 3.55 using Rogero, if i download say v3.4, do i just rename to PS3UPDAT and install frm usb stick or leave the name as is?
I'd be better upgrading from recovery mode yes?

You can remarry from 3.55 using the earlier posted guide.
your final aim to be on CFW 3.55, hence you just upgrade to Rogero 3.55 CFW, then remarry.
Ok I did the rogero update to 3.55, upgraded fine.
I installed multimann and the usuals. Now for some reason nothing opens, when I open multi I just get a black screen and no controller over ps3, I have to reset. Same with any other programs I install.
Any help with this?
And do I deffo need a service mode donlge to remarry or is there any free way around it?

As mentioned in the remarry guide, service mode is a must, if happens and you own iphone or android phone you can use that as service mode dongle .. search on google how to do the service mode dongle.
