PS3 Media Server, worried about connecting

Hello everyone,

First of all I'm sorry if I'm asking stupid questions. I'm just worried.

Here's my situation: I have a 3.55 jailbroken PS3. I've never connected the PS3 to the internet at all. No PSN accounts no nothing. To use my PS3 as a media server, I need to connect to my wireless network. Is there any way my PS3 might update to a higher firmware if I do this? Or what can I do to prevent this?

It won't auto update unless you pay for PSN Plus. The only way it can be updated is by going to system update in the XMB or playing a 3.56+ game disc and doing the update install that starts up.

Enable your internet connection on your ps3 manually but at DNS just add random nummers or change the last digit of the first row. That way you are still connected to you network but not internet.
