ps3 jail break help (simple)

hey there, im totally new to the forum and the entire concept of ps3 or jail breaking.

i will be buying a ps3 just for the jail break.

i would like to know, will i need the bluray (i can save a lot by buying a faulty ps3 with no bluray)

what do i need to jail break a ps3

do i need a certain firmware in order to jail break it.

and most importantly can i go online.

Yes you will need a PS3 with a functioning BD drive, or one which laser is dead will do. You will not be able to jailbrake a drive which does not function at.

You need 3.41 firmware to use the jailbreak.

You need a Original PSJailbreak device or one of the many clones out, I recommend X3 Max as you can easily flash any hex file to it.

You cannot go online at the moment, there was a temporary hack, but it has been sorted out by $ony.

i thought that you could just run games off the hdd.
