Err, how would you plan on talking to people? with a USB keyboard? that seems like a waste of time to me.
Well, you can always load linux on it and use one of the aim client on there
I don't see the point either, unless you have no computer which is obviously not the case.

There is a client for the PS3, PS3messenger and its based of ebuddy I think. Just google it and you will find tons of answers.
