Hey guys I have a problem that I can't seem to find an answer to in search... I accidentally messed something up with my original ps3 and I want to take the HDD in that one and keep it exactly the same and boot it up into a new ps3... Only problem is I wasn't able to make a back up of the hdd to restore. Is there anyway I can restore this HDD from the old broken ps3 onto the new PS3. Let me know. Thanks.

Nope. The HDD is individually keyed to the PS3 it was originally formatted in. If you try to put it into another PS3, it will ask to format the HDD before continuing.

So if I understand this... you're saying the only way to get my original files back is to repair the old broken PS3, put the original HDD in, back it up, then do a restore to the new one? Is that the ONLY way to recover my info or am I just beat straight up?
