PS3 HDD file transfer problem –
03-30-2011,02:10 PM
Hello !!
I bought HDD 500 GB 2.5c TOSHIBA MK5055GSX 5400/8 mb cache. I switched it to ps3. Everything seems fine I installed 3.55 kmeaw and it seems working. But I have problem with transfering files from my laptop to PS3. I use Filezilla +blackbox and multiman and when I transfer I get max speed just 1 mb/s. I tried to change speed& duplex settings in my ps3 and laptop network card to 100 mbps Full Duplex but it didnt helped. I can only say that I have orginall ps3 HDD 40 gb and on it I get 14 mb/s with exacly same settings. I tried to find answer for my question but I didnt found anybody with same problem. Can anybody help me? Is it some HDD failure cause I have no other solution for it.
Cheers ! Hope somebody can help me

Don't use Filezilla. It's known to cause problems.

Filezilla works perfectly. Never had a problem with it.
The PS3 doesn't have a wireless -n card, so don't expect super fast transfers. Check your router to see what type router it is. (a/g/b/n) They make a huge difference. Check to see if there's an "noise." Plus, when the PS3 sends files over FTP, it does it slow as it is. It sends each file and logs each individual file and has to close that connection and start a new one, then depending on your ftp client, it checks the MD5 sum.

Thank you for your answers.
I am not using router. I just made LAN connection so Iam connected by cable. And I am sending files to my ps3 from laptop, not in the other way. And in that way 1 mb/s is extremly slow I should get around 13 mb/s right?
I must admit that bought used HDD so can it be some kind of disk faulty cause if yes I can return it.

I highly doubt you're gonna go 13mb/s on a home network unless you're using a gigabit connection, and you still shouldn't be getting that high with a ps3. The ps3 can limit its data transmission and the laptop can limit its data receiving.
