ps3 harddrive question
ps3 harddrive question –

sorry if this has been asked before I couldn't find an answer after searching.
scenario
i have a ps3 that someone tried to fix and failed. i was asked to take a look at it.
did a reflow and got it working, now it is coming up asking for the hard drive to be formatting. (i am assuming the owner tried to do something with the drive to get his data prior to bringing it to me)
i have another ps3 that is jailbroken with 3.55 kmeaw fw. is it possible to put the drive from the repaired console in a usb enclosure and read the data that he wants saved from the jb ps3? either through multiman or ftp to it?
i don't have a spare sata enclosure so i don't really want to start opening up everything if someone knows the answer to this.
if not its really no big deal I will format and tell them to stop screwing around when they don't know what they are doing.

Absolutely no way. The PS3 doesn't use a file system that the PC will recognize. It uses encrypted SPUFS so unless you're running linux on a Power PC there's nothing you can do with it other than delete the partition and format the drive. That's good advice to tell your friend

no prob. also don't try to use your existing kmeaw ps3 to access the other hard drive. they're assigned to each console when they are formatted.
