Try turning off "passive mode". See if that helps...

Cool. It's amazing how many times rebooting has fixed things for me.

Same thing was happening to me.. I think it happens when you are connected to your router with both WIFI and Ethernet from the same PC for some reason..

Anyways a quick fix without rebooting.. copy/paste the following into notepad and save it as NetFix.bat

    Code:
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /flushdns
    ipconfig /renew
Then right click the file and "Run as Administrator"

This should renew your IP address settings and let you connect normally again.

sorry to be a pain and know this post is quite old by now but i am still having this problem also

tried flashfxp, filezilla and winscp using blackbox, multiman, iris and gaia (and all the possible combinations of those)

tried disabling wifi and wired (seperately of course)
    tried re-starting pc
    tried the NetFix
tried passive mode on and off
    tried FTPD12345 and anonymous usernames
    tried with and without password
(again with all possible combinations of those)

all either turn up with one of two errors...
directory listing error or timed out

its been annoying the hell out of me for months now and it used to work fine until I updated my winscp (and yes even tried going back to earlier versions - 3 different ones actually and tried those again with multiman, blackbox, iris and gaia)

so far i've just been transporting data through usb drives but thats really not the way I want to keep doing it and just want to know what I might be doing wrong here

I'm not exactly a noob at this and have managed to get everything else working fine usually without asking anybody any questions but this has just got me completely stumped with all my trial and errors so far

absolutely any help whatsoever would be massively appreciated as all the help I've had so far is stuff I've already tried and even though it usually seems to work for other people it doesnt for me

    grrrr

I hate to even suggest some things so straightforward, but thought I'd throw it out there, just in case. Are you connecting while BlackBox (and showing the ip address) is running on the ps3? And you're setting port to 21 and an active connection (not passive), right?

yup, although for some completely obscure reason i got it working in the end....

I had my wired connection from my server to be a static ip of .20 and my ps3 to be .21 for the purposes of streaming mkv better,
I hadnt even noticed that this connection had issues (it still had wireless fine)
i basically got it to get an ip automatically (not sure if thats now going to mess up my streaming 1080), it fixed the issue with the wired connection and in turn fixed the issue with the ftp

(even though i didnt change a thing and the wireless connection was still working.... would've figured it would've used that instead but hey ho, now its working after months of trying to fix it, then oddly enough the second I ask someone, i fix it myself - bloody typical!!!!)

EDIT : and yeah - it was set to not use passive and port 21

I'm still baffled why it now suddenly works but not complaining unless my streaming goes all over the place at which point i'll probably end up fixing that and breaking the ftp again, lol
