PS3 Firmware Spoofing drawing on early PSP hacks for reference
Something that could potential grind the PS3 hacking scene to a hault is the current inability to spoof the firmware, which would be needed to allow future PS3 games to run on a PS3 3.41 system.
Firmware spoofing came out very early in the PSP hacking scene as games quicky came out requiring newer firmwares than that which had been hacked yet.
The PSP and PS3 both run similar OS's, I assume it was originally created for the PS3 then modifed heavily for the PSP.
I guess the question which needs to be answered is, is the same OS vulnerability used to Firmware Spoof the PSP present in the PS3?
Or was this patched on the PS3 once it was used on the PSP?
Or did it only ever exist on the PSPs version of the OS?
Or did sony infact not bother patching the PS3s potential vanurability because the PS3 was considered Hack Poof, leaving this exploit open for use once again?
Someone who understands the PSP firmware spoof hack or someone who can "reverse Engineer" the PSP firmware spoof hacks should check to see if the same vanurability exits on the PS3.
I have an original PSP with an early PSP firmware hack installed into the custom OS available for use...
