I have a 80GB ps3 on 3.15 with a broken blu-ray, soon to be replaced. I want to jailbreak it but what firmware do i need to play back ups without a disc in the drive? or what back up manager?

Start with 3.55 Kmeaw + MultiMan 2

all i need is 3.55 kmeaw and multiman 2 to play back ups without a disc?

yes update via usb to 3.55 OFW and then update to 3.55 kmeaw through recovery mode, go to tutorial section of this site as this thread is really unnecessary

Depends on the game. Many can be played with multiman on kmeaw, but many can't. Cobra seems to have the best compatibility for playing diskless, though you will need to buy it.

the drive will accept the disc and eject like normal but i insert it it makes a sound like its still tryn to pull the disc in, will that work if i need to have a disc?

OK! i have a 80gb update to 4.00 from canada and im thinking to update to jailbreak but i think i need to downgrade cuz there is NO 4.00 jailbreak at this time but how can i downgrade cuz my objectif is to have save game files and trophy btw what is or what can i do to convert my usb harddrive to fat32?that the first i need to know cuz right now i have download the 3.55 kmeaw and just to see if my ps3 reconized it and say there is no files so my usb harddrive is not in fat32 PLEASE tell me how or msg me how to do a fat32 and downgrade and jailbreak im very new in that kind of stuff and i dig so much on google thank you -_-

As far as getting your 4.0 machine downgraded, you'll needam e3flasher or progskeet to downgrade. Of course this depends on the firmware the console had on it when it was shipped from Sony. I'm not an expert at this, but if you google "downgrade 4.00 to 3.55" there a a lot of links on the first page that should help out.
