yes it is possible.
I forgot to ask, will i be able to play online?
I cant upgrade further than 3.50, right?
Wow, just read and you'll find your answer.
Would you like me to come over to your house and setup everything for you too? Jesus, there's at least 5 threads on this board right now that say you can get on PSN w/ 3.50 if you use the proxy trick. But, I guess you couldn't be bothered to search since it's so much easier to just post your question without looking if someone has already asked/answered it before. God I'm really getting sick of all the new people that have shown up since the downgrade became available.
You should really do some research before posting any of this.
Most ps3's are suffering from the loss of blu ray movie playback and so far not a single way to recover it, especially those who have 3.50 from the beginning and never backed up their dev flash3 folder.
I didn't need to test it as I was already on 3.41 but I did anyway. Luckily for me it was a phat model that isn't prone to that downgrade issue. (16mb nand) It's a free lesson, never jump into anything until a few guinea pigs with multiple ps3's can confirm and deny issues.
It seems you haven't even looked at the news section of 270+ pages about the BD issue. If loss of bluray playback doesn't bother you, then go ahead and do it. But you'll never get it back once you decide to upgrade to 3.55.
You either wait and see if there's a solution in the next few weeks, or downgrade and wait for a solution. Because the only solution to restoring BD playback is through a potential hack using jailbreak. Regretting the downgrade and updating right away will never fix it for you.
If your ps3 model number in back of the ps3 is cechk (or higher than k) You shouldn't have the issue. Just remember what you get yourself into. Read about it, don't assume things, especially when dealing with firmware and service mode.
Damn spade, now you might have made him be a permanent member here! He obviously just wants someone to spell it out for him, rather then doing any research. Should have let him start in on the upgrade/downgrade path and then we could have just said the same thing over again. Did you read? Did you research? Did you see there was a thread about this? Oh well, I'm sure he'll give us more opportunites to do so.
