i have just recently dug up one of my old ps3's. This ps3 was previously running 2.76 OFW. I attempted to update it to 3.55 OFW and it got trapped in the update loop, this is due to blue ray drive error(wasnt present...doh!). So, in my desperate attempt to recover this ps3, i removed the HDD and formatted it then stuck it back in. i also did the battery trick (Unplug it for 30 mins), i left my battery out for 2 hours. i then successfully got into the recovery mode, and chose the update system software option (Number 6.) i inserted a flash drive (Tried multiple) with the 3.15 OFW on it (PS3>UPDATE>PS3UPDAT.PUP). It sits there looping at checking for files. then eventually after about 30 minutes, comes up saying no files were found, or some error . I then tried different firmwares, a 3.41 which has been patched to not check the Bluray drive. a 3.50 OFW, 3.41 OFW, 3.55 OFW. All again with no luck!. I repeated the battery trick and hdd format process between every trial.
So, sh*t started to get serious. i performed a battery removal trick, reformatted the HDD. i then tried to put the ps3 console into service mode using a psp. the first step to putting it into service mode went smoothly (PSPjig Application, pull out power cord from ps3, re insert power cord, power then eject) the ps3 shut down accordingly after the psp displayed that the jig was sent and done, followed by the line USB DEtached. the ps3 then shut off. i then have tried absolutely COUNTLESS AMOUNTS of .self files with countless amounts of PUP files, mixed with countless amounts of flash drives, os's to format the flash drives. NO SUCCESS! . The ps3 Turns on, hdd flashs for 2 seconds, then usb flashs for 2 seconds, hdd again then turns off....
its like it allmost isnt in service mode............. zzzz.
now from here, as you can probably tell from the above, i am ABSOLUTELY clueless as to what to try next, any help or comments (within relevance to the topic) would be appreciated.
