PS3 Connecting to Internet?
PS3 Connecting to Internet? –

Hi all, I just had a quick question for you. I haven't updated my PS3 to 3.42, so I wasn't trying to connect to the PSN or anything. I simply had my Ethernet cord plugged into the PS3, and took a look at the connections the PS3 was making in my router log. It was making outbound connections to various IPs despite it just being simply turned on and sitting at the XMB. Does anyone know what sorts of places it might be connecting to? Sony?

Yes, it's still connecting to Sony.
i.e., It will still prompt you to download updates even without being connected to the PSN.

Oops, sorry...I didn't mean firmware updates, I meant game updates.

I do know that the PS3 will allow game updates even if you are not connected to PSN. Although for some reason the PS3 can't install game updates while in JailBreak mode.

Because the "psJ mode" is a mode made by Sony to fix things so it wont allow installing of updates. It is a bit like safe mode for your pc.
