PS3 Chain of Trust - old vs new - implications/possibilities
Alright i'm just reading up so if i'm asking stupid questions just kick me in my n00b face. I was reading about the boot order Boot Order - PS3 Development Wiki
So if i'm reading this correctly; since the loaders lv1ldr, lv2ldr, appldr, isoldr are now entirely encaptulated by the lv0, and since the metldr was used to load the loaders. Is the metldr useless now as in, is it still there loading the loaders and only the chain of trust is changed? In the usage column in the article i don't see anything decrypting or loading the metldr, so that made me wonder.
Also i read that everyone is trying to exploit the lvl0, but isn't the bootldr easier since it's non patchable and it is run in an SPE (0), and since we've already managed to exploit ldr's that are run in an SPE (2) or is it totally unrelated or does the per console encryption raise a problem?
I'm probably rambling like an ass but i just want to understand more about how this friggin thing works.
