PS3 cfw- Noob Questions
PS3 cfw- Noob Questions –
First off just wanted to to say thank you to all the active members on here, been a silent reader for years and what I have learned from this site has brought much enjoyment.. After many years of leaving the PS3 in the closet I finally took the plung and put it on cfw.. Again, possible to all your posts and tuts. My question is this, running all games off external HD but some games have a addition 6-12gb of cache info... What I want to do is have all info on the external and not the internal as it is one of the original internal 40gb... Am I doing something wrong that even though the game is on external I cant get the cache part to dump to the external also?
You can't cache to the external because you can't put files larger than 4gb on a FAT32 drive. That is the whole point of caching to the internal.
Download game data 5.0 from multiman it's located in the Web column.. That'll do the trick I think.

OK, to clear up some mis-understandings on my part, are you talking about games installs or caching of large files by multiman?
When installing a game such as MGS.. Copy game from dvd to to external hard drive.. After installing go to start the game and it states that it must put some information on the HDD in order to play.. Does not give option as to Internal or External... Just dumps it internal.. I think for MGS the cached somewhere between 4g and 12gb
Although it is technically a cache, what you are referring to is generally called a game install. I'm unaware of any method of making game installs go to an external, but I'm pretty sure it would make your loading times terrible if you are also running a back up from the same external.
Thank you again, new to the PS3 mod scene but been modding as a hobby for more years than I would like to admit.. Thank you again and grab job on this site
dont meant to hijack, but what cfw has the bd-emu built into it. i have a fatps3 with a broken drive and would like to still play my backups
