ps3 black screen - know its been asked before but question different

HIya,

going round in circles trying to diagnose whats wrong.

Having read a lot of posts on here i still dont have a real true answer to my question so here goes.

Got a 3.55 off a mate with a faulty drive. I assume the board and drive were matched.

The drive accepts disks but does not spin up. the clock on the right top circles contiumuously with any disk in. The laser lifts up and down a few times then stops. a constant blue light is on the ps3 with a disk in.

Now ive managed to run the 3.55 kmeaw cfw update from 3.55 ofw, and that ran fine. Installed pkg but everything black screens.

I got my old drive out of my 60gig machine and swapped the logic board over and stuck itin, that spins up but still does not show anything.

demos goto a black screen, pretty much everything i run.

Now would this be that the guy has replaced the logic board with another one and its not married up, or would it be a totally dead board.

I read that if it was dead the firmware should not install and go in a loop, but that was not the case.

Any help greatly apreciated.

99% sure the board is not married. If it was dead, you should get update loop when trying to update firmware.
Since you are on 3.55 you can do the remarry process, note however that you will not be able to red BD movies on that machine.

dont want to start a new thread but have one last question on payload devices.

I managed to pick up a PS3KEY, should be delivered in a few days, but it said only compatable with 3.41.

Does that mean the backup manager side is only compatable and i will still be ok to get into service mode through 3.55 to downgrade to 3.41 then 2.3 to remarry the board.

Then go back to 3.55 then 3.55 KMEAW???
