PS3 black screen - installed incorrect CFW 3.41 over 3.42 offical fw
PS3 black screen - installed incorrect CFW 3.41 over 3.42 offical fw –
PS3 black screen - installed incorrect CFW 3.41 on 3.42 official fw
General mistake (lost concentration), making PS3 unable to boot in recovery mode using double beep method
I have a Jail Break 2 Red USB dongle.
- Possible fixes;
Reinstallation of firmware through Jailbreak 2 (it has a downgrader function)
Solutions to be able to do this?
JB2 in downgrade mode
Reload firmware through USB somehow
Done so far:
Formatted HDD in windows (Seagate 120GB custom)
PS3 turns on then turns itself off. Black screen flicks for half a second then about 10 seconds later the PS3 turns off.
Need to find guide to recover, been looking for over a day now
Also note that the PS3 was red screening before. After that I removed the HDD and formatted it on PC.
--- Another thing I forgot to add is I combined the 3.41 CFW with 3.42 Update.

Ok, so I didn't understand a thing you just said. Are you saying you tried to install 3.41 CFW on top of 3.42?
Yes, it was a mistake. Was meant to do 3.42 CFW.

If not you will need to go into downgrade mode but honestly you need to upgrade after you downgrade as there is no reason to stay on 3.41. I suggest using the 3.15 OFW PUP and not the 3.41 modified PUP as it seems to give more troubles than anything.
I have had nothing but luck when downgrading and just going to 3.15 OFW first then upgrading to the FW of choice. The 3.41 modified PUP has failed on me once and I simply don't trust it anymore than I trust Waninkoko's work as he has bricked a lot of Wii's & PS3's with his work. Good dev but needs to not rush to glory but test his work and maybe be second but at least his work would be solid.
Now here is the downside of the downgrade if it is an older phat model you will lose bluray playback. There is a chance you can recover if you know what was the latest bluray you played, not the most recent but the newest movie by date. Or you could be one of the lucky few that can use someone else's drl files.
But I also think jaicrab released a new lv2.diag that bypass the bluray so you won't lose playback. Let me see if I can find it.

There it is use that when you downgrade to ensure you don't loose bluray playback, but again that is only for phat PS3 users. If you are on a slim it will format your HDD but that isn't a big deal as you own all your games you will use with a backup manager I hope.
Now as to how to downgrade with your specified dongle I have no idea. Only one that was a little weird IMO to use were the E3 Reader & P3 GT Pro. The rest are all pretty much exactly the same. I use the EcliPS3 guide and has worked for me and my dongle of choice is my PS3uKey and works just the same way as does the X3 downgrade goes by the same guide. This should do the trick for you.

PS there is no 3.42 CFW, only CFW's are Hermes 3.41 and Kemeaw,WuTangRza,geohot have a 3.55 CFW. Only way you can do a 3.42 is to use MFW builder and do it yourself but I would wait a while till you know how the inner hackings of the PS3 work and the do's and the don'ts is just some good advice. That and sit back, relax and don't jump on new things till others have confirmed unless you are sure you have the skills/tools to repair if a mishap were to happen. That and when you make your own true cfw with your own boot logo's, sounds, hacked ssl CA's and more you will won't to go 3. 55 as well I assure you.

Cool! It's working!
I put the ps3update.pup (original 3.41 update) and the smaller lv2diag.self in on the front of the a normal USB flash drive (seemed correct according to those instructions). The PS3 stayed for a few mins then turned off and now it's back to normal!
