PS3 Backup Regions / 3.21 Firmware

Hi,

i wonder if "scene releases" region USA / NTSC will
play on my ps3 slim 250GB?

I also read i cannot install PSFreedom because i am
on 3.21 firmware? What can be done to fix that?

upgrade to a higher firmware, not 3.42 tho

You kan keep linux because the RichDEv said he will make psgroove for ALL fw below 3.42!

hmm where did you hear this? although i kinda think linux on the ps3 was a bit overrated. It was just so slow...

Firstly, piracy is not allowed here.

Second, to jailbreak, upgrade to 3.41 via flash drive.

Third, for your LEGAL backups, Playstation 3 games are region free. Blu-ray movies, PSOne, and ps2 games are not.

Unless you're absolutely impatient and want to start playing backups your best bet is to keep your firmware where it is. Especially since things might/should get to the point where you only need to run the exploit once (or even a software exploit on 3.42), and then loading a custom firmware or permeanent patch.

They said even though it can work on firmware below 3.41 there's no gurantee there are going to do it.

My $ 0,02:

A- If you have a SLIM PS3, there is no LINUX (yet).
B- If you feel the urge to upgrade, do it with an USB stick, but only to 3.41 (as 3.42 removes the vulnerability that allows all these exploits).
C- I myself like the PSFreedom scene (due to several ports and MAEMO), but Mathieul gang is hard at work in coding the PSGroove exploit to work under 3.41.
