Hey, recently my ps3 had the RLOD, and when I fixed it, the firmware came back to 3.60 (I was on 3.55 when I got RLOD). Should I try to use an E3 flasher to get it back to 3.55, or should I just go ahead and use the Rogero Cfw?

    Thanks guys!

What makes you think you can directly install any CFW on 3.55+ OFWs? That's supposed to be common knowledge by now, EVERY 3.55+ CFW thread is very clear with this, If you're on 3.55+ OFW you'll need as flasher as those CFWs can't be installed on anything over 3.55.

So yes, you'll need flasher, Progskeet is also nice. Btw, did you send It to Sony? Don't they usually send a different PS3 when you RLOD? If that's the case, there is a chance you're on a CFW with min FW version higher than 3.55. I'm not too sure on this, but I believe there is a way to install Rebug 4.21 CFW on that kind of PS3 by using flasher, never tested It though.

Sony would not send a new console if you sent it to them with CFW installed, it voids the warranty so they have no responsibility fixing your PS3 at all.

Sony would not send back a new/replacement console with CFW installed, EVER....

I think you might have meant OFW with min FW version higher than 3.55, if that is what you mean, then OP is screwed. there is no downgrade for consoles shipped with 3.56+ FW

if you are on any OFW 3.56+ you will have to downgrade with a flasher if possible.
if you have your original console or the console you have now is able to be downgraded then you will HAVE to downgrade to get to any CFW

If you're on RLOD and can't get to the Firmware, Sony can't know If you're on CFW or OFW, unless of course, they have some sort of flasher or NOTHEROS.PUP to check that, but the odds are, they don't. They don't even fix the console, they just send a refurbished unit.

Thats what I meant and you're wrong, there is a method to install 4.21+ CFWs on PS3s with min FW version higher than 3.55 and It requires a flasher. I'm not sure of It's limitations though.

I'm sure they have ways of telling what firmware version was on the ps3, also traces of homebrew on the HDD, IF they looked.
Yea, i guess odds are they just chuck the RLOD PS3 and send a replacement.

limit is Metldr2, which I guess there is possilbity of going Flasher route if his console does not have Metldr2, but all newer consoles have Metldr2 except for the very few CHECH25XXX
