PS3 3.55 no blu-ray drive, how to jailbreak???? Also update to best CFW???

Ok i got a PS3 with no blu ray drive on 3.55 OFW,
Just curious can i just do a standard 3.55 jailbreak or is there a special jailbreak pkg to use that bypass's the drive etc.
Because i remember updating a PS3 with no blu-ray and bricked the console.

As well, I've only used PS3's on 3.55 fw, whats the best and easiest way to update to a CFW that will play most newer games?
From doing a bit of reading rogero 4.30 v2.03 looks the best option.
Can i update to this without a blu-ray drive also??????

The best firmware to use for someone with no blu ray drive would be rebug 4.21.2, that's the only cfw where you'll be able to play all your games discless, though to get that option up and running isn't for the noob...type in Google, run all games discless . If you think you can pull that off than go with it, if not use Rogero 4.30 v2.05, and with the latest multiman about 80% of games run discless. Rogero_CEX_4.30_v2.05.PUP there's rogero.. If you want rebug 4.21.2 visit thier site at rebug.me

So do i need to jailbreak before installing these cfw's, or will these cfw's jailbreak and do the update for me?
I'm just not sure of the process which do do all this.

- Jailbreak first then update to cfw? if so what jailbreak do i use?

- or just update with one of the rogero cfws?

I'm use to using multimann so i might try get rogero running........Any help and what steps i should take?

Yeah your good, use that file I gave you. Havnt heard of Rogero 4.30 2.05 bricking anyone's console. If you want you could take the extra step of precaution which would be install kmeaw 3.55 then run toggle qa but it's not needed, just makes it safer or so some people say.

Oh no problem, and yeah either recovery mode or you can update straight from the XMB..that's what I did but go with recovery if that's what you feel safer doing...supposedly it's less of a risk.

That is because you need at least a married blu ray logic board. Otherwise you can't use any homebrew apps or PSN games.

You are going to have to downgrade back to 3.55, then marry a logic board.

Then I would suggest REBUG REX 4.21.2. So you can play any game discless.

I think I'm in the same boat (btw my BD drive doesn't read discs). Just went Kmeaw 3.55 >> toggle cq >> Multiman 4.20 >> Rogero 4.30 v2.05.
for giggles i opened multiman 4.20 while still on 3.55 Kmeaw and it worked fine. I then proceeded to install Rogero 4.30 v2.05.
After successful install, everything I try to open gives a black screen. Multiman = black screen, Toolbox = black screen, PSN games = black screen.
I also tried switching from HDMI to S-cart to see if display was the issue, didn't work.
I've deleted all game data, re-installed multiman 4.20, downgraded multiman to 4.18 and still black screen, re-installed Rogero 4.20 and still nothing.
This is the only thread I've found remotely close to my problem, so my next step is to also marry the blu ray logic board even though everything worked fine on Kmeaw 3.55? Did my blu ray logic board get un-married somewhere :o?

EDIT: Just downgraded and went back to 3.55 Kmeaw and everything works fine again ~_~ I'll just stay here for the time being.
