ps3 on 3.01 ?

hello all got a ps3 which is on 3.01 wondering which is the best of way jailbreaking it using psgroove etc with board going for a usb key already made ?

First, upgrade to 3.41. Second, I always suggest a dev type board over a clone. There are some good USB devices though. Get a x3max, P3Go, eclips3, or any dev board (Teensy, Maximus/Minimus, etc).

Also, before you start asking anymore questions, go read the PS Jailbreak FAQ that is stickied in the General Jailbreak section (may be in another section, look around for it).

thanks was looking at the e3 card reader but the 4mb rom is too small ?

what your personal recommendation for something a bit more future proof and hold packages!

Well, you really just need a thumbdrive for holding packages. I personally have the XPLAIN board as it was the biggest at the time of ordering for ROM/RAM storage. A 4mb rom is huge on any device in all reality (the current payload is only around 20kb, and there's been talk that if you want to run AsbestOS, you'll need at least 36kb). The x3max is a good board, considering one of the resellers/owners posts on here and is very quick to help if you're having problems. I can't really vouch for any of the other devices, except what I've seen on these forums.

Why tell him to just upgrade to 3.41 without telling him he'll lose Linux & GeoHotz exploit?

He could even sell it for more $$$ and buy a 3.41 and gain a bit of cash out of it.

I'm not being funny, just good to give people a bit more info before they rush into things.

That Mame project sounds awesome by the way, what will you be using to run it?

Hahaha, an old p4 HT that someone brought over for me to repair and then never collected it. I already have the wood all cut out for the console, just gotta order the buttons and whatnot (about $300 in buttons!!!!). I think I'm gonna wait till after x-mas to start though for obvious reasons
