downloaded games are no guarantee to work .
There is currently no mechanism for this. The first and second generation FAT PS3's (CECHAxx-CECHExx) have hardware built in for emulating PS2, but there is no implementation from running them from a PS3 backup manager.
If you have a Swap magic disc, you can use Open PS2Loader on a ps3 ([ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2V0qPVWD43o]YouTube - Open Ps2Loader on the PS3 with Swapmagic[/ame]) to play backups on USB or SMB share.
Otherwise, get a FAT PS2 and an IDE hard drive for it (with the network adapter) and use HD Loader or Open PS2loader (with a Free Mcboot memory card), or use PCSX2 emulator on your PC if your PC is fast enough
