PS2 Backups on PS3

I have searched for this and haven't been able to find anything solid. I read multiman can play ps2 backups if your ps3 is backwards compatible.

I have a game in an .nrg file format and I want to put it on my ps3 internal HDD and play it is that possible and how do you do it.

(before anyone says just put the game in the console or call me a pirate I have the game but cant find it up the attic at the moment so downloaded it)

from what i've read, multiman only has experimental ps2 backup support.

it never worked really if at all.

It detected the disc but will not load them. Only way to play PS2 backups on a PS3 is to have a backwards compatible PS3 and use Swap Magic 3.6 or 3.8+ and Open Loader/USBAdvance. I use it all the time but I hope one day it can be done from just the PS3 and no need to boot my retail swap magic disc every time I want to play a good RPG.

why not just buy a ps2 & a mod chip instead of tearing up your ps3.
buy the pasts & i'll install em for an AR max evo

Use Open PS2 Loader.

You need to have a retail SwapMagic 3.6+ or 3.8 disc. (currently there is no other option available)

The steps for loading Open PS2 Loader :

1. Rename OPS2LD.ELF to SMBOOT0.ELF
2. Make a folder in the root of a USB device, name it SWAPMAGIC and copy the SMBOOT0.ELF into it.
3. Launch SwapMagic in your PS3 and press UP+L1, then Open PS2 Loader should start.

SwapMagic has 4 options to run an ELF file, so you can use any of them if you have other ELFs your also using with SwapMagic.

• * SMBOOT0.ELF = UP + L1
  * SMBOOT1.ELF = UP + L2
  * SMBOOT2.ELF = UP + R1
  * SMBOOT3.ELF = UP + R2

That's what I'm planning to do.
