The dongle mount Atmel Atmega16A AU, but how can I update it?
I tried with the utility of eclipsemod.com/download.php but nothing.
Any idea to update this dongle to PS Grove or another firmware that support the new backup manager?
I hope there will be a way... but i guess not...
On french forum thay said that the pin to update the atmega isn't wired
Technically you don't need a pin wired to anything if the internal software supports flashing the onboard flash memory.
Just to make a point... the PIC flasher that was done for 360 SPI flashing has a soft 'switch' that will reset it into the firmware update bootloader (via a usb command issued by python script), cygnos for xbox 360 (which also uses an atmel) is also capable of the same, heck even the Open Logic Sniffer PIC has the ability to be put into update bootloader by a small exe.
To me the simple fact that any of the clones has a button for updating simply shows that the people who are cloning the solution weren't interested in putting in any work on the software themselves pre-release, and most certainly the lack of a button that says "update" while having an identifiable microcontroller does not suggest it's incapable of being updated - and as some folks have found, it's entirely possible to have a button that says "update" which does absolutely nothing with stock software.
That said, anyone making book on how long it will take for clones to release a "v2 no update button needed" model if a open source solution was made that presented that feature?
ok thx for the info.. but actually there is no way to update..
I'll get the same dongle in many days... i'll play with it... till i can.. and then..? it should be really great if the scene can find a way to flash that kind of dongle.. even if we have to solder some wires because of the lack of bootloader.
Good news.. i'm gonna check it right now...
hope someone find a way.
Sorry for my poor english.. but i'm french
If it says ''designer's'' in the name, it means it's a fake or a clone.
