Hi,

I found this video on Youtube and I am not sure if it is true :

But basically, someone is using a PS3 controller to jailbreak his PS3 with firmware 3.50 ! Sony disabled non approved USB devices to be connected to the PS3 but the PS3 controller is a approved one, so it does make sense.

I am just wondering if this is true. Please comment.

LOL... nah. This is an old video of some guy who built a PIC mod inside his controller, re-uploaded and misnamed by an even bigger idiot.

Ok, I do tend to believe this forum more than stuff on YouTube

So any news on Custom Firmware or a way to play games that requires 3.42 and/or 3.50 ?

Do you guys believe that PSJAILBREAK will release Backup Manager 1.1 and this will allow to use newer PS3 firmwares ?

Already been proven that the only way you could hack a console using a PS3 controller is soldering in a PIC chip. Instructions were provided, but it is a giant hassle to do. As for hacking 3.50, the core people behind PSGroove, etc have been able to hack 3.50 for some time and get back online, but they feel if they release this to the public, there will be widespread banning and tons of cheating on PSN. So, for now, they're not going to release it. And, honestly, I don't blame them. If you ever got Xlink Kai back in the xbox 1 days, you'd know exactly what I'm talking about.

I'm pretty sure they're just bypassing the firmware check and connecting with 3.41, if someone got the USB JB hack running on 3.50 it'd be huge news.

Agreed. I mean, look at the Blackbox FTP 1.1 video (the one the team released). They're online post 3.50. Signed into PSN and everything. So, there is a bypass out there, we just haven't been graced with how to do it yet.
