Problem with updating my PS3 HELP!

I ended up buy a PS3 on craigslist that had no blu ray player in the system so I got riped off and I tried to see if Sony would replace the drive if I paid the difference but they didn't. So I waited for the jailbreak to be pretty wide spread and stable so now that Waninkoko had the firmware you can update with a thumb drive I tried it and now I am stuck in a update loop because of the blu ray player is non-existent is there anything I can do to get past this or maybe trick the firmware into installing even without the blu ray player or can I buy a PS3 blu ray off ebay? Please help I have no idea what to do.

Search the forums for the Bluray bypass firmware or take a crack at using Jaicrab's new lv2diag files.

Cool so all I have to do is patch the .pup file thank you for the help on that. Do you know how I can get out of the update loop by chance?

I think if you put the bluray bypass firmware on your stick it will get you out of the update loop, but I'm not 100% on that.

I don't think it reads from the usb thumb drive anymore because I pulled it and it seems to have the update on the hdd.

So I am able to get to the recovery mode menu because I put in a 40gb ps3 drive that was from another system. Could I just get a prepatch bluray bypass Waninkok cfw v2 I am totally lost right now.
