    Hi all!

I'm new to PS3 and I have a small problem with Gran Turismo 5.

I have a PS3 running a custom firmware Kmew 3.55 with Multiman 2.00. I want to be able to play my games from internal HDD so I used Multiman's Copy-function to copy it to the internal HDD, and it played fine!

Then I used Multiman's Update function and downloaded a bunch of updates for the game, and furthermore installed one, I believe it was 1.09.

After update I started the game and it told me there was a newer update (I assume it is 1.10), so I downloaded it to try if it works on my 3.55 FW.

Well, it didn't - It tells me I will have to upgrade to 3.60 to have the game working.

I was aware this could happen, but also that I could go back by just deleting the game, and re-copying it and not updating.

The problem now is that after delete and re-copy I see in Multiman (Game settings of the HDD-copy) that the game is Gran Turismo 5 ver.1.10 (PS3 FIRMWARE 3.60) so I strongly suspect not all files needing a deletion were deleted.

What am I missing? Is there another file folder or files that need to be deleted?
I deleted the game folder (hdd0/GAMES/BCES00569-[Gran Turismo 5]) but are there other files and at what paths/locations?
Will I lose the game progress made when fixing this problem?

I would be very glad for any assistance you can give me so thanks in advance!

just delete the game data from the xmb, restart the game and it'll want to reinstall game data from scratch. You can then download the individual updates (search this site and you'll find good links), and update back up to 1.09 manually and all will be sweet. If you can't be bothered searching for the update links, you can update the normal way and simply cancel just before it starts downloading the last update (which will be the one that caused you all this fuss!).

There is a known bug after update 1.06. If you strike it (it'll ask you to free 32mb on your HDD), just delete game data again and re-install up to 1.06.

Yes, deleting the game data in XMB solved it.
I then installed the updates 1.05 and 1.06 manually and it works again!
    No game progress was lost.

Many thanks for providing me this info.

If you want to install up to v1.09 you will more than likely get the 32MB error cerebr_al mentioned when updating even with only v1.07. I'm working on getting to v1.09 but still having that 32MB bug. Will post a solution if i get one.

ALso remember that in future donot updates. Updates are only required to go online with PSN. Also these updates require 3.6X keys which we do not have yet. So again do not update.

Sorry to be so pessimistic @Tranced, but I don't think you will get a solution because the error is due to a corrupted save file. Updating to 1.10 and then deleting game data and re-updating past 1.06 corrupts your saved game or files on the hdd that link to it. I've found no solution and I've scoured everywhere and done everything short of reformat my HDD.

There is a solution of sorts - backup your save to a memory stick and delete it from the xmb. Ouila! You can now update to 1.09 and play with no problems (except that you'll have to start the game from scratch)!

Do you mean the 4MB corrupt save file bug? (I think it was 4MB but I'm sure you know what I mean.) If so, my save file is only 400KB. I have never updated to v1.10 and only encountered the bug when I updated to v1.07 which ran fine until I wanted to delete my back up of the game due to another issue I had. Only after re-dumping the game and re-updating it, I could not get past v1.06 without encountering the 32MB error.

@Tranced, the 4MB bug is another bug that occurred if you did certain things within the game. Both affect the current save game. And yes, you can get the 32MB error in a number of ways but its still a corruption of your save game. Backup your save and delete it from the xmb and then you'll find you'll be able to update and play right up to 1.09. But as soon as you restore your save game, the error message will re-appear and you'll have to delete your game data and only play up to 1.06.
