Possible way to downgrade or run debug firmware- Is this possible?
Possible way to downgrade or run debug firmware- Is this possible? –
Ok, When you put a PS3UPDAT.PUP on a USB Stick and then insert in the ps3 and go to update from usb.
The ps3 unpacks and copies the PS3UPDAT.PUP to the DEV_HDD1 partition of the hdd. At the moment we can't access DEV_HDD1 with the ftp tools etc. (I don't know the reason why? or if its possible) ?
Now is it possible to write a redirection into the psgroove payload that would redirect DEV_HDD1 to say DEV_HDD0 or DEV_USB. Then when the update unpacks and copies the files over it will go to our usb drive or a location on our hdd that we can access.
Then the ps3 reboots into firmware flash mode ready to write the firmware files.
You could then replace these unpacked firmware files with another firmware (debug or retail) unpacked and the update should proceed and complete successfully.
You can run the jailbreak before the ps3 restarts so that when it enters firmware flash mode the payload has been executed. Is this possible ?
The PS3 cannot be downgraded. Period.
The reason being is because it has e-fuses.
Think of an e-fuse as a bridge. The PS3 has hundreds of bridges. The PS3 can also choose which bridges it uses and destroys.
When an update comes out, the PS3 will blow an e-fuse, making that connection no longer exist. Technically a small part of your PS3 breaks, but completely on purpose. The reason is so the PS3 knows it has gone past a certain software revision and cannot go back.
Now please, for the love of god, everyone. Use the search function before asking about downgrading again...
Ok well not downgrading but you should be able to use the above to install a debug firmware
Research jaicrab's firmware loader.
