I enjoy playing Fallout New Vegas but the game is filled with bugs. There is an update (1.06) which fixes most of these bugs. When I download and install the update I can't play the game because it asks me to update the firmware. Is there trick to bypass this?
I don't think there's a way around it for your game, unless someone around here finds a way to make that specific patch work on 3.55 or lower. There's only a handful of games that require firmware 3.60 and up, and some updates for older games require 3.60. So to answer the first question, yes, you can definitely update a game without updating the firmware, but it depends on the requirements of the game and its newest patch. All you can do right now is uninstall the patch so your game is at least playable. Go to "Game Data Utilities" under "Games" in the XMB menu, find the data for fallout, and delete it. This will take you back to 1.00. You may be able to find earlier patches through Google that are compatible with 3.55--ps3index is a pretty good source for finding all patches for a game, but for some reason they don't have any listed for yours. This site also tells you the minimum firmware that each update requires, so you can find out ahead of time whether or not it's safe to update a particular game. You can install the updates manually through usb--they're pkg. files.Quote:

It seems they have taken all the old updates off their servers. I checked with Awesome Update Findr and the only update available was 1.06.
Even Multiman doesnt let you get older patches anymore. If anyone knows where to find 1.01 - 1.05 could they please let us know.
I have a 1.04 version (in org. PKG) but for PAL UK (i forgot game id).
You should upload it incase a few people have been caught out with the new update, with the game id of course.Quote:

BTW: v1.05 reopened some critical bugs from first retail builds. If You not using 1st DLC, I've not reccomend to use it.
