Normally that is sign it can't see the hard drive correctly.
Try another hard drive.
Look at my "un-bricking thread", about removing the battery, getting to recovery mode and doing system update that way.

this has happened to somebody I don't remember who, I think he had a video and every thing over in the E3 downgrade thread, maybe check that thread, i'm thinking he fixed itby reinstalling the modified 3.41 pup, not sure though

well my ps3 hasent yellow lighted any anything like that,
i was on 3.50fw and i wanted to check out service mode before i downgraded, so i wanted to get back into my ps3 normaly and was told i had to put the dv2 files in my usb drive and insert it into my end usb port and let it do its thing until it rebooted but after that the ps3 now turns on for about 30 secs then turns off

You could always try the built in recovery mode.
How to Access Playstation Recovery Menu
1. Turn off Playstation®3.
2. Hold The power button down; The system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be promted to plug in your controller via usb and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.
