It is possible but I would highly recommend you use 2 network cables and a router between your pc and computer instead of doing it wirelessly. Unless its a really small file. Wireless FTP'ing is god-awful slow...
As far as I know, my ps3 has never had an undetected error.

Do you have a wireless router?

Do you have a wireless capable PS3?

If you have both of these, you will NOT be able to transfer files wirelessly through FTP. The scene has not advanced that far yet.

    Sorry

No it does work as i have done it...its just friggin slow...

The way that I did it was I went thru and setup my wireless connection with my ps3, I just manually set the DNS to 1.1.1.1 and the secondary. As long as it assigns an IP address to your PS3 there is no reason you cant FTP wirelessly.

Its just not worth a shit cause its so slow doing a wireless FTP transfer. Use cables and a router for the fastest transfer speeds

the ps3 wifi is terribly slow no matter what. i dont know if they fixed it, but i have a fat and no matter what it sucks. def go with the cat5 cable. ive heard connecting directly from pc to ps3 is even faster. im getting about 18mbits/sec thru router.
