Please help for X3max –
I've got myself a X3max after reading several good things about it.
I want to program it but I cannot get access to that white switch which I'm supposed to move to make the dongle in "programming mode"
I'm supposed to remove the back plastic part of the dongle, but I really cannot remove it, I tried with all my strenght..
So wth am I supposed to do ?
Gotta use a phillips screwdriver. Do not use the one that came with it you will strip the threads. An eyeglass one works great. Mine only had one screw in it e careful when you do pull it apart to not damage the circut board. I never put the screw back in cause the case fits tight enough.
I never needed to unscrew any screws. Thats just for accessing the micro sd, the transparent plastic part at the back should just come off. If yours is tough, try a screwdriver and prize it open.
You DO NOT have to take the screws out to access the switch to flash the dongle, you have to pull the cap off the bottom.
Removing the screws to pull the whole unit apart is silly, since you'd have to pull the cap off the bottom anyhow :P
Pry it off with something
What I like to do is this. (alot easier then trying to pry the cap off)
1- Take off the cap covering the usb part.
2- Place that cap on the bottom of x3max, over the other clear (smaller) cap.
3- Grip it near the bottom, and it should come up easily.
We tried everything which could be possible in earth.. but nothing..
we even used a knife, a very slim one, to make a leverage effect but without any result..
Do you have any other ideas please, i don't want to remove its screws ..
just heat up the end of a screw driver so its hot enough to melt above the switch so you have a small hole you can access it through. But you should just be able to pull it off man its only a bit of plasitc!
I know neoroses, it's only plastic.. but it can't be helped, It's tough.. here is a video to show you the thing ( because after all, maybe I'm doing it wrong ? ) : [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmDfXGB90bI]YouTube - X3MAX Problem..[/ame]
But don't you think it's dangerous to heat up a screw driver to melt a little part of plastic? It could damage the inside components...
You are going to have to remove the screws. Check out christechtv.com he has a tutorial youtube video of the review of the x3max on the website. I never realized that you could remove the end cap to access the switch until I saw it posted here. I did remove the end cap after reading here but only after I pulled the dongle out of the case. The board if you leave it in the case afterward and only remove the end cap moves around a little when you try to put the cap back on so you then have two choices they way I see it. Leave the end cap off as I do or always pull the dongle out of the case when you program. Good luck on programming.
I had no choice but to remove the black part of the x3MAX, all is good now..
pheeeew it was hard.
thanks for everyone's help
